Capital City Gaming Con

Join the Rook Room in attending Des Moines’ best gaming convention, Capital City Gaming Con!
Formerly Cardboard Caucus, Capital City Gaming Con will be held October 11th through the 13th this year at the Hilton Garden Inn in West Des Moines.
The convention will feature a weekend full of board games, TTRPGs, tournaments, prizes, puzzles, entertainment, live shows, demonstrations, and more.
The Rook Room is also hosting the opening night Mixer along with the Azul Tournament on Friday night.
Rook Room Gaming Mixer
Kick off your con with fun, games, and some new friends at the Rook Room Mixer! Whether this is your first Capital City Gaming Con or fifth, join the Rook Room Mixer and connect with other gamers, find like-minded players, and create your convention crew in a fun, welcoming atmosphere with none of the social awkwardness of meeting new people.
Wondering what to expect? Games, of course! The Rook Room will be hosting a bunch of party games to get you playing all night. On top of that, they’ll be running an always-on “Don’t Get Got” passive social challenge (similar to Assassins) in which you’ll have to get your target before you get got! Do so, and you’ll receive a special reward.
The Rook Room will also be providing special convention badge ribbons and stickers to attendees aimed at making it easier to meet, talk to, and play with new people – both during the Mixer and throughout the weekend.
All are welcome to join, so grab some friends or come solo and get ready to mix, mingle, and play!
Azul Tournament
Put your tile-laying, mosaic-building skills to the test with the Capital City Gaming Con + Rook Room Azul Tournament.
The Rook Room will be running this for-fun tournament to determine the best Azul player at the Con. Up to 24 players will go head-to-head in four-player games. The top four winners of the first round will move on to the final and a shot at being crowned champion. Prizes will be given to top finishers.
Space is limited, so register while you can!
Your favorite Rook Room Fun Experts will be hanging out there all weekend. If you see Annelise or Tony, be sure to come up and say hello. We’ll also be running an all-weekend Find-a-Friend challenge with prizes, so grab one at the CCGC information/registration table.
