The Iowa Catan National Qualifier Tournament

Do you love Settlers of Catan? How would you like to play for the chance to qualify for the Catan National Championship? Get ready to build and trade your way to victory as The Rook Room hosts Iowa’s only Catan national qualifier tournament at Cardboard Caucus!
Play for your chance to be qualified for the 2020 Catan National Championship at Origins Game Fair at Iowa’s only Catan national qualifier tournament at Cardboard Caucus.

Players will participate in three rounds: preliminaries, semi-finals, and finals. The preliminaries will be a series of three separate games of base Catan. The top 16 players will move to the semi-finals. Semi-finalists play a single game and the winner of each table will advance to the finals. Finalists play a single game of Catan, and the winner wins a guaranteed seat at the Catan National Championship at Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio. The champion will be responsible for their own transit, hotel, and Origins Game Fair badge. Additional prizes will be given throughout the tournament.
National Champions are sent to the Catan World Championships. The 2020 World Championship will be located in Malta, late 2020.
We will be using the 5th Edition of the game for the tournament. We will have some copies of the game on hand, but players may also bring their own copy though it MUST be 5th edition to qualify.
Entry is free. Preliminaries will be held Saturday with semi-finals and finals taking place Sunday.
