Welcome to the Rook Room Game Lounge & Cafe official Game League!
Launching for our first season in Summer of 2026, we can’t wait to bring you in on a journey of gameplay, teamwork, and a whole lot of fun.

Have you been looking for a way to play more games with friends, formidable opponents, or family? Are you wanting to find your inner board game competitor, or maybe just improve some of your gaming skills? Perhaps you just wanna party with your fellow game lovers. Whatever you may be looking for, Rook Room Game League is locked and loaded for Season 1 of our very first competitive Board Gaming League. Our focus is fun and friendly competitive play, with plenty of opportunity for all levels of gamers.
It’s Season 1 of Game League. You have two paths. Some of you will find three other teammates and sign up together. Others will sign up solo and get paired with three new friends. No matter the path you choose, adventures await like never seen before at Rook Room Game Lounge & Cafe!
Together, eight teams of four will enter the ring to compete in a fun and friendly competitive circuit. One welcome event, six sessions of gameplay, and one big celebration later, you will have completed your first eight-session Game League season! Teams that meet all qualifications of completing the Season will get a free commemorative pin, an invitation to an exclusive celebration party, and the chance to win prizes! Look for the full FAQ at the bottom of this page for more rules and gameplay details.
In each of the six sessions of gameplay, players rotate between playing one of four games. Season 1’s games are Azul, Dominion, Wingspan, and Ticket to Ride. Are you new to one or maybe all four? Head to that FAQ at the bottom of this page to find out how your team can divide and conquer the six sessions fairly (and what happens if someone can’t make a session!).
We encourage all kinds of gamers to join in on Game League, whether you are solo, brand new to games, or a gaming champion already. During our welcome gathering, we will have structured time to get to know the games and your teammates and fellow teams, so we will all start with a solid foundation of knowledge.
Registration for Game League can be found at the button below.
All sessions are 6 PM to 8 PM at the Rook Room Game Lounge & Cafe.

There is a LOOOOT of information below. We highly recommend you read it all from top to bottom. You can read it sideways too, but that might be a bit trickier.
League – A structured, recurring competition where individuals or teams play a specific activity (like bowling, darts, or board games) on a regular schedule over a designated season.
Season: All eight sessions of the Rook Room Game League (plus two weeks of break) wrapped up in one time of year. We plan to have four seasons per year, corresponding with the temperate seasons. Our inaugural season, which is open now, is officially our first summer season, or Season 1 and S1 as you might see it written.
Session: There are eight “sessions” in each season. Six of the sessions are gameplay, and the other two are a welcome party session and an end-of-season celebration session. You might see a session written out S1:S3, which would mean season one, session 3.
You can sign up for the Rook Room Game League at the button below, which will take you to our Square site to complete your transaction.
With your $65 registration, you get one reserved spot on one of eight teams in the inaugural Rook Room Game League. Each individual participating will receive a commemorative Game League enamel pin, a 4-punch PlayPass “Training Card” to practice with your team, a waived PlayPass fee for any events with a PlayPass, a certificate, free food and drink at the end-of-season celebration, and a chance to win one of three trophies. Game League will also have a dedicated member of our team ensuring fairness and fun at all sessions throughout the season.
We spent a long time calculating the perfect cost for Game League based on the feedback from our Community Survey and ensuring we had some fun extra elements to each season, while keeping the focus on the games.
Legendary, basically. In all seriousness, making this a smooth process was very important to us as we planned Game League. We want solo players to have an incredible experience, AND make some friends along the way. When you register, you will select the option that you are signing up alone, and then on the back end, we will match you with a team. This team will be made up of others who do not have a team of four. You’ll have the welcome party to get in the zone as a group for the first time!
No worries. Select the option that applies to you during registration. If you and your bestie are signing up, you will say you are registering with one other person. If you and two others are signing up, you will say that you are registering with two other people. You will be added to a team of four with other individuals, and you will get to know them during the welcome party.
Each game is played by four people from different teams. The outcome of the game is scored by ranking. If you win first in this week’s game, you receive 20 points. Second is 15, third is 10, and fourth is 5. Your team’s points get added together to create your combined score for that week.
For example, if Lora scored first in Dominion, Cora scored fourth in Wingspan, Nora scored third in Azul, and Dora scored second in Ticket to Ride, your team’s score for the week is 50 points.
Each week, there may be bonus points awarded as surprises unfold throughout the season.
While we hope your whole team is able to make it to every session, we understand that Game League may not be priority one when life gives you lemons.
The best option for you and your team would be to find a substitute player to take your place for that week’s gaming. Substitute players will get the special treatment and a discount if they want to join in on the next season’s Game League! Their scores count just as if you were playing the game yourself.
The next option is that each team is allowed two “misses”. These two misses allow you to automatically receive the points as if you were awarded fourth place at the table that night. Your team will get five points added to its score for each game – meaning 20 total points for the session.
While we hope this allows flexibility, we want to remind participants that getting a substitute keeps the gameplay experience as close to normal as possible vs. one table playing with three people. No matter what you decide, if you are planning to miss a session, please communicate with your team AND the Rook Room what your plan is.
You can find information for first-time visitors on this page of our site!
We know how to host a welcome at the Rook Room Game Lounge & Cafe! Grab some free popcorn or get your own beverage at the bar while we talk logistics and fun-gistics (does that work?!) about Game League. Get to know your fellow players on and off your team, and have a chance to ask questions of our staff. Two representatives from each team MUST be at the Welcome party, but we know it’ll be the most fun to see everyone’s game faces there.
At the welcome party, teams will have access to the game schedule and will be signing up their players for each table. Learn more about that below.
For Season 1 of the Game League, the Rook Room team will not be assigning players to games. This means that if you have a player who just cannot get enough of Wingspan, they could technically only play Wingspan the entire Season. Now, we think that takes some fun out of the game, but we get that gamers are gonna game!
When you pay your registration, you’ll be sent the detailed sign-up form. This will allow us to collect your information and lock in teams. At the welcome party, you will sign up for the games your teammates will be playing.
For example, let’s take my team, the RookStars, as they are looking to assign our players to games. At the welcome party, I will see on the provided sheet that we are assigned to Wingspan Table A, Ticket to Ride Table B, and so on for the first gameplay session. We will write down that Tony is going to be playing Wingspan and Meredith will be playing Ticket to Ride for the first week. You’ll do that for all six gameplay sessions during the welcome session!
Each week you’ll come into the Rook Room Game Lounge & Cafe at 6 PM, greet your team, grab yourself a beverage or food item if you want (not provided), and head to your predetermined (see above question) game table for the night. Games will already be at the table. At 6:15, the Rook Room Team will start the night and the clock. You’ll play until you have finished one full game. A Rook Room team member will come over and record scores. After that, you are free to hang out with your team or other teams, play other games, have an unofficial rematch, or head home! The official event end time is 8 PM, but we may have some short and some fast games, and as always, you are welcome to stay until we close at 10 PM.
BIG SUMMER BLOWOUT! We can’t wait to celebrate the end of a successful S1 with you all. This inaugural group is going to be really special. A small buffet and free drink tokens will be available for all players. You can bring some guests to celebrate with you, take pictures at a themed photobooth, and get ready for a silly and exciting awards ceremony. You’ll pick up your pins, participation certificates, maybe a few “Most Likely to Accidentally Throw a Dice” certificates, and the top three point-earning teams will receive a trophy. Mainly, this is just going to be a heck of a lot of fun!
At the end of the night, we will announce the games for S2 of Game League, and you’ll receive exclusive early access to register as a benefit for being participants of S1!
I bet others are wondering the same thing! Reach out to events@therookroom.com, and we will get your question answered and posted on this list if applicable, so we can keep everyone informed and ready to game.
