Have you ever wanted to slay a dragon, raid a dungeon treasure room, or even save a village from an evil bandit horde? Join us as we learn the basics of how to get started and play Dungeons & Dragons.
We will learn everything from character creation, to combat, to the basics of storytelling, and more through the course of four sessions – November 22nd, November 29th, December 6th, and December 13th. Each session starts at 5:45 PM and lasts about an hour.
Session 1, Nov. 22nd: What is D&D and Character Creation
Session 2, Nov. 29th: Non-Combat Actions and Role-Playing
Session 3, Dec. 6th: Combat, Spells, and Weapons
Session 4, Dec. 13th: Putting it All Together and Sample Scenario
This program will include doing some simple math, some mild violence, and imagination. There will be some time following the program to ask questions and meet others interested in D&D.
This series is open to youth ages 8-18 and only requires a one-time registration. Each session will build on the information presented at previous sessions, so please plan on attending as many sessions as possible to build on your D&D knowledge.
Attending previous sessions is recommended but not required. If you missed any, we’ll get you caught up!
All sessions are free and take place in person at the Des Moines Public Library Franklin Avenue Branch at 5000 Franklin Avenue starting at 5:45 PM.
